Jumping In

Well, that was a long post!

Here goes.

Life is good. Life is great. Honest!

I mean I can walk again, I can drive again---and I REALLY like to drive, I can cook a meal for my family, I can take a walk in the woods---swamp is more like it, I can help take care of my family---instead of it being the other way around, I can roll over in bed---no one has to come in and turn me, and I can take a shower by myself---among other things. I really HATED having to be washed---not sure the husband liked it much either. Life is good.

But my son is going back to Iraq---a few months BEFORE his first child is born. This is his second tour. Obviously, MY preference would be that he not be there at all. I am incredibly sad for him and his wife. I think it's safe to say that we could all do without this whole 'war' bit. I would do anything to protect him. But I find of late that I cannot protect him from this. Then I think "Why not?" and my cold brain plots and schemes up a 'solution'. For a moment there, I had the distinct and insane urge to tie him and his wife up and lock them away, safe and sound from having to deal with ANY aspect of this war. I AM supposed to protect my child, am I not??? I don't think they would take to being 'locked away'.

I have been doing artsy and crafty things for years. My biggest passion before I became ill was gardening. I could not imagine life without a garden---until the day came when I couldn't. Now I've discovered the versatility of Polymer clay. What a find for an artist! Fantastic stuff. I am currently sculpting a dragon bust. (I AM THE DragonLady after all!) I LOVE to sculpt! I mean, I REALLY LOVE it. Time just flies when I am playing with the clay. I haven't been this passionate about something since my days in the sun! Of course, this has done NOTHING for my jewelry-making and writing, drawing and painting endeavors. There is a whole host of unfinished projects. Wait a minute. . . LISTEN. . . do I hear them all calling???

Peace All,

the DragonLady
