HEAVEN!

Dear World,

Today, it was HEAVEN. It was just a gorgeous day out. FINALLY some cooler weather here! It was sunny, NOT muggy in the least---just perfect weather for sittin' outside and tinkering around in the garden.

It's so wonderful in fact; I think we're going to have a barbecue. Grilled burgers and hotdogs. . . MMmmmnn! Totally bad for you, but great food. Now there's an oxymoron, lol.

Crap Shoot.

Oh God, today was a rotten day. I've been fighting with the spouse for two days about the importance of NOT lying in marriage---about anything, and the kids decide to pick this day to hand me crap. It's a wonder anyone is living. (Just kidding.)

I can't think straight on a rotten day---other than to say that I want my mommy! Of course, this would be the one person that isn't living anymore.

Well, there's always an upside---there's always tomorrow.

Eighty Bucks Down the Tube.

Dear All,

I'm well aware that today was September 11th. I figure the best way to honor it was by simply living my life. So that being said, apparently my 'best' was to drop my MP3 player into my coffee as I was rushing off to drop people off at work and pick up other members of my family clear across town.

MP3 players apparently don't do well in coffee. While I fished it out as fast as could (it sank like a rock.), the damage was done.

I've murdered my MP3 player on September 11th of all days.

After that debacle, I thought I'd try 'gluten free' bread with dinner tonight. Someone 'helpful' thought it might be good for me. I thought it resembled my dead MP3 player---being that it was about as heavy as a rock. It's certainly filling, I'll give it that.

Fall Off.

Well, I think I could fall off the planet and no one would notice. Ever have days like that?

Today was one of those days for my entire family. I think we don't give all the little things that eat away at you nearly as much credit. What makes up the BIG shi! after all?

A THOUSAND little things.

No new art to post, but I'm working on stuff so keep yer' hat on!

Stormy Weather

We had quite the storm this evening. I LOVE storms---when I can stay in the house and be all cozylike! I am NOT looking forward to any hurricanes though. They usually come through the gulf around September or so. We're getting close! If Bill and Danny are indication, I'm sure we'll have to batten down the hatches once or twice.

My son will be returning from training in a few days. Soon he'll go back to Iraq---or possibly Afghanistan. Either way, I'll try not to be sad about it till then. It doesn't matter whether I agree with the current policies or not, I'll support my son 500%.

My oven is on the blitz so I can't work with my clay till I can get it repaired---NEXT month! (Sniff!) Think I'll tackle a cloth doll or two. That should cure my creative itching. I'm writing two books too, so wish me luck!

Butterfly Wings.

Dear All,

Here are some Butterfly wings I drew. Actually, I drew 1/2 of it freehand, then had the image reversed via computer and then they were printed up. That way I get a perfect pair.

I tried doing it the old fashioned way, but the constant redrawing and tracing distorted them too much for my tastes.

These will eventually be colored and used as Faerie wings for future pieces. I could also have them printed up on artist's velum too. That would be pretty.

Peace All and thanks for looking!

Mini 'Miniature Show'

Dear All,

Today, my daughters and I had a 'Girls' Day Out'. We went to a Miniatures and Dollhouse show and of course, to the craft store. I originally thought it was a doll show, but I guess I didn't pay much attention to the add in my Doll and Costume Magazine. (DUH.) It was pretty small, but there were some lovely things to see. There are some TALENTED people out there!

Of course, we spent a bit of money since my younger daughter and I would like to try our hand at making dolls. We're going to try different kinds so we can see what we like. I like dollhouse dolls, but my daughter wants to make LIFE-SIZED BJD dolls from papermache. We've NO idea on how to do this just yet, but we're looking! I'm having fun going through all my doll books and magazines.

The day is getting closer and closer to when my son will leave for overseas. We don't know if it will be to Afghanistan or back to Iraq. Either way, I wish he didn't HAVE to go! I'm starting letters to him now so he'll have mail almost daily from home. I save the Sunday funnies from home and send him clippings. He seems to enjoy them. In the meantime, he thinks his new son is 'difficult'. Nah! He's just hungry. Little boys seem to come careening into this world just starving, lol.

Forgot I Had This.

Dear All,

I forgot I had this set-up---which explains the one post. (DUH.) Not that anyone is reading it, lol. A friend of mine suggested this place when I tried to follow her site: SoutherOaks. Lo and behold, I found my old account! It's amazing what you forget when you do too much on the 'net. I've uh. . . since cut WAY back.

My son has since come back from his second tour in Iraq, but he is set to leave again within the next four months or so for his THIRD tour. Sadly, he will miss the second child's first year. On the upside, he now has a son! The little tyke will be about three weeks old right about now.

I still enjoy my sculpting. I even had the good luck to have my work (Up left there) featured in a magazine---- which felt awesome by the way. I currently have two projects in the works and will put them up when I figure out HOW, lol.
